A fantastic island to experience in a continuous gale - the coast and surrounding seas were stunning, and the hostel a perfect building to retreat to. As the ferry could not make the crossing, our stay was extended (at the time of writing!) by a day which meant we walked the entire coast and much of the interior. Future guests should hope for a storm! R&SD 09/2010

Thanks P and E for setting up such a superb hostel and especially for the filter coffee maker! Even by Shetland's high standards Papa Stour is incredible, highlights for me being the cliffs over in the north and otter spotting on the beach below the hostel. Really hope to return one day. We came for three days & stayed for five as it is such an interesting island & B wanted to stay to watch the lamb gangs nightly race. Excellent views of many nesting birds and seals, and two otter sightings. Thanks for a really comfortable hostel and your friendly hospitality. I am sure we will be back. TH&BW 05/2010

Thanks so much for the friendly welcome and local knowledge about where to see Seals - we saw lots! Otters an added wildlife bonus. We enjoyed a really comfortable night and appreciated the towels, tea, cereal etc. Great Duck eggs also! Hope to be back in the summer. LW + PR 04/2010
